Tonia's love of the ocean, it's moods and colours, and people having fun at the beach inspired her to paint this artwork. The scene is an aerial aspect of Sorrento back beach on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia. The seas are quite rough but the beach is relatively sheltered and many people are seen enjoyng the sun. Wendy, Tonia’s fictional person (Where’s Wendy) is in many of her paintings, and is seen on the beach this day in her red bikihi. Can you spot her? The artwork is intended to give the viewer happy thoughts of summer and take them to this beautiful place by the ocean. The cool blues and turquoise greens are typical of many of Tonia's seascapes.
Acrylic paint has been applied with brush and palette knife and finished with two coats of satin varnish. Thick edge quality cotton canvas. The painting is framed in a white timber, floating frame and has a wire across the back, ready to hang.
