Tonia Sanft is an Australian artist based in Melbourne. She paints a variety of genres and styles from colourful seascapes and landscapes to contemporary, female, linear nudes and abstracts.

Tonia awarded a Highly Commended prize at the 2022 Sorrento Art Show for her painting, “Take Me to the Sea”.
Through colour and vitality, the painting captures the spectacular beauty and wildness of the back beach of Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. The aerial scene, as the weather is changing, is the view from the top of wooden steps where a solitary girl descends, through the tea trees, to the beach. Her name is Wendy, a fictitious character, who often appears in Tonia’s paintings with the catch tag of “Where’s Wendy?”

Raw Beauty captures the untouched beauty of the ocean beach of Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. The tide is going out exposing the rock shelf and crystal clear rock pools hidden during high tide. Tonia is constantly inspired by the coastlines of Australia and particularly these back beaches of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. A group of young people were frolicking this day in the swell of the cool, blue/green waters. Tonia’s fictional character, Wendy in her red bikini, is amongst the group. Wendy often appears in her paintings to the catch-cry ‘Where’s Wendy?’ inviting the viewer to take a closer look.
The painting is on cotton canvas and is finished and protected with two coats of satin varnish. It has a quality white timber exterenal floating frame and a wire across the back, ready to hang.
